TEA updates pre-K guidelines ahead of implementation this fall

The Texas Education Agency has released its 2022 Texas Prekindergarten Guidelines. Implementation of the guidelines begins in August, with the start of the 2023-24 school year.

The published documents include streamlined and comprehensive guides for PK3 and PK4 in English, Spanish and Vietnamese.

To help early childhood educators prepare for the new guidelines, TEA has planned webinars and designated office hours to review changes and answer questions:

• The first webinar was held Jan. 11, with a PK4 focus. The recording will be available by Jan. 17 on TEA's Early Childhood Education webpage.
• Wednesday, Jan. 18, from noon to 1 p.m. with a PK3 focus. Click here to register. (The replay will be available by Jan. 21.)
• Office hours:
  • Jan. 24, from 3 to 4 p.m. on Zoom. Click here to register.
