CONCLUSION
Offices on the Executive Board up for election this year include:
We also are accepting nominations for Director-at-Large, to serve if needed based on statewide office and district director elections. Even-numbered districts will elect directors. Terms for new directors and board members will begin June 1, 2022.
Nominations received by Nov. 28, 2021, will appear on the ballot. Nominations also will be accepted from the floor during the first business meeting of the Representative Assembly on Feb. 26, 2022 (individuals nominated from the floor will not be on the printed ballot but will be write-in candidates).
The TCTA Bylaws provide that to be eligible to run for office, an individual shall:
Additionally, a candidate for district director or director-at-large is eligible for election in the TCTA district corresponding to the public school district in which he/she is employed. The Bylaws also specify that a person shall be ineligible to run for a district director or director-at-large position if election would extend tenure in office beyond five consecutive years as a member of the Directors’ Council.
Nominations for an executive office or director-at-large position must be made in writing and may be submitted either in letter form specifying the office sought, or by completing a Qualifications and Consent Form.
Individuals whose nominations are not received at Headquarters by midnight on Nov. 28, 2021, may be nominated from the floor, but will not have their name placed on the official ballot.
Nominations may be submitted by U.S. mail, fax or email to:

In accordance with the TCTA Bylaws, revised February 2012, Article IX, Elections and Nominations, Section 1, Elections (B):
"Each even-numbered TCTA district shall elect a district director in even-numbered years, and each odd-numbered TCTA district shall elect a district director in odd-numbered years. District directors shall be elected by the District Coordinating Councils by a locally developed election procedure.
"In the event that a District Coordinating Council fails to elect a district director and notify Headquarters at least 60 days prior to the annual meeting of the Representative Assembly, delegates to the Representative Assembly may function as the District Coordinating Council and elect a district director in a caucus meeting."
Even-numbered TCTA districts will elect a district director this year for a two-year term from June 1, 2022, through May 31, 2024. Headquarters must be notified of elections by Dec. 28, 2021, or delegates will vote for district directors during the annual meeting.
The TCTA Bylaws provide that ethnic-minority members must comprise at least the same percent of the Directors' Council as exists in the membership of TCTA, and the Representative Assembly elects directors-at-large as needed to ensure representation on the Council. Directors-at-large are elected via a plurality vote; whether a director-at-large serves on the Council will depend on the outcomes of the statewide and district director elections. See “Candidates for statewide office” above for deadlines and additional information.
Local association presidents will be mailed packets containing their projected delegate counts and rebate information by mid-December. Active-level members in local TCTA affiliates should notify their local president of their interest in serving as a delegate.
Active-level members in school districts with no TCTA local affiliate may serve as voting delegates-at-large. Allocation is made on the basis of one delegate per district for each 50 Active members-at-large (or major fraction thereof).
Active-level members who teach in school districts without a TCTA local affiliate and are interested in serving as delegates-at-large must notify TCTA of their interest by Dec. 28, 2021, by completing this form.
Student members may serve as nonvoting delegates, and delegate status is allocated on the basis of one delegate for each 50 student members (or major fraction thereof).
Student members interested in serving as nonvoting student delegates must notify TCTA of their interest by Dec. 28, 2021, by completing this form.
Those who express interest in being delegates-at-large and student delegates by the deadline will be entered into a random drawing to fill available slots in each category. Delegates will be notified of their selection in January.
Amendments to the TCTA Constitution or Bylaws must be submitted in writing by Nov. 28, 2021, to qualify for a lower voting percentage for adoption; however, amendments may be submitted during the Representative Assembly in February and will require a higher voting majority to pass. The maker must distribute copies of any amendments submitted from the RA floor to all delegates. Amendments must be submitted to:
