TCTA state board member wins teaching excellence award

TCTA congratulates District 17 Director Amy Drake who is among three Lubbock ISD educators receiving the Frank and Nancy Newton Excellence in Education Award in 2019.

Drake, who teaches at Evans Middle School, has been a member of TCTA since 2002. The Newton award, which comes with a $10,000 prize from the Beaumont Foundation, celebrates and recognizes the superior contributions of teachers who inspire a spirit of learning in students.

Drake and the other recipients will be honored at a ceremony in May.
