Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar released his anticipated revised revenue estimate Oct. 5 in advance of the special session, which will begin at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 9. Compared to the Biennial Revenue Estimate presented at the beginning of the regular session, the most recent Certification Revenue Estimate predicts around another $6 billion on the table, although the Texas Legislature is still subject to spending caps.
Having more money available could be the push legislators need to consider a meaningful teacher pay raise as part of their agenda for the upcoming special session; call your legislators and state leaders to let them know how they should spend this extra funding!
