Big bills up for debate next week

The House is scheduled to consider HB 1, the state budget Thursday. Typically, well over 100 amendments are proposed, and the debate takes up the full day. Since amendments to this bill must be proposed by Monday, we may reach out to our members next week to ask for your help in contacting your House members with regard to certain proposals.

SB 8 and 9 are rumored to be considered on Senate floor Wednesday, although there have been reports that leadership is having trouble summoning the votes needed to pass SB 8, which includes the Senate’s ESA/voucher proposal. SB 9 includes the Senate's proposal for increasing teacher salaries.
