Gov. Greg Abbott announced the agenda for the special session of the Texas Legislature that will begin Thursday, July 8. Lawmakers can only consider topics included in the “call” for the session, which will last up to 30 days.
Several education-related issues are included, among them a 13th check for retirees, revision of the so-called “critical race theory” bill that passed in the regular session, reconsideration of a vetoed bill regarding instruction on issues such as dating violence, and how transgender children may participate in UIL athletic competitions.
