This week, the Texas Education Agency launched a video series to explain HB 3, the comprehensive school finance bill. The first episode of "HB3 in 30" covers budget planning for teacher compensation.

New videos and supporting documents will be released each week through the end of October on TEA's HB 3 webpage. July's topics are tax rate changes, compensatory education, pre-K programs and recapture payments.

In August, topics include: current year values/fast growth allotment; college, career and military readiness; do not hire registry; gifted and talented; and transportation funding.

September's videos will cover special education and dyslexia; reading practices and future changes to K-2 assessments; board and district goal setting; and the bilingual education allotment.

In October, the series will focus on teacher incentive allotment, the extended school year, blended learning, more on tax rate changes and new teacher mentoring.
