During its June meeting, the State Board of Education took no action against recommendations made by Education Commissioner Mike Morath, opening the door for four new charter schools to begin operations in the 2025-26 school year:

  • Infinite Minds in Arlington
    Pathway Academy in Big Spring
The Texas Girls School in Austin
    Unparalleled Preparatory Academy in Manor

In other action, SBOE members discussed the rule process for potentially removing materials from the lists of approved and rejected materials as part of the Instructional Materials Review and Approval process. Public comment on the IMRA process is being accepted through Aug. 16, and SBOE members will discuss the issue further at the September meeting before a vote in November. SBOE members also honored the 2024 Student Heroes in June. The 15 recipients have made a significant impact in their respective communities through their volunteer efforts. Click here to read more about them.
