Changes coming to STAAR in 2022–23

Visit TEA's STAAR Redesign webpage to learn more about four changes coming to STAAR:

• New types of non-multiple-choice questions
• Online administration of nearly all tests (students unable to access online tests due to a disability may still take the paper test)
• Reading comprehension questions that reference topics that have been taught in other subjects
• Elimination of stand-alone writing tests; writing now will be incorporated into reading language arts tests

These changes will be implemented in the 2022-23 school year.
