Senate approves bill including partial TRS COLA funding

The Texas Senate approved SB 30 Wednesday on an initial 30-0 vote. The bill includes $1 billion to help fund benefit increases for retirees (as yet undetermined), as well as $600 million for schools to enhance safety measures.

The bill appears to be on the fast track as it moved immediately to the House, was referred to the Appropriations Committee, and has been scheduled for a hearing on Monday.
