The Texas House voted to concur with Senate amendments to HB 6 by Rep. Jeff Leach (R-Plano), a student discipline bill.
With the Senate bill second reading deadline behind them, the House will spend the rest of its time in the session deciding whether to concur with Senate amendments to House bills or to appoint a conference committee to hash out a final version before sine die on June 2. Many House bills that return to the chamber from the Senate only receive a brief description of their changes, then the author moves to concur, but occasionally, the Senate changes are not in line with the original intent of the bill and a conference committee is appointed instead.
HB 6 was among the bills that did not face any questions from other members. Leach said that the Senate changes were amenable and the House voted to concur with the changes, sending it to the governor's desk to be signed into law.
