Abbott says schools can't require masks after June 4

Gov. Greg Abbott announced Tuesday that government entities, including school districts, will no longer be allowed to require face masks. For schools, the order begins after June 4; for other entities such as cities, counties, state agencies and public universities, it went into immediate effect. There are exceptions for government medical and correctional facilities.

Individuals are, of course, still allowed to wear masks, but any schools that had continued to require mask-wearing will no longer have that option beginning June 5.
