TCTA's 50th Annual Convention

Visit To The Capitol 2005

Delegates and other TCTA members are encouraged to participate in a pre-Convention Visit to the Capitol on Thursday, March 3. The event begins at noon with a legislative briefing, and is followed by a visit to the state Capitol to meet with individual legislators. Participants can earn 1.5 hours of approved CPE credit for the briefing and 2.75 hours for the Capitol visit.

The legislative briefing will be held at the Renaissance Austin Hotel, host site of TCTA’s 50th Annual Convention. Participants will receive the latest information on critical legislative issues, lobbying tips, and help in identifying key points to discuss with legislators during the afternoon Capitol visit. Information also will be available to assist with finding the names and Capitol offices of individual representatives and senators.

Box lunches ($14) will be available at the briefing. Tickets for a box lunch must be purchased in advance using the ticket order form provided online.

Participants will travel to the state Capitol at 1:45 p.m., either boarding the TCTA shuttle bus or traveling on their own. Round-trip shuttle bus tickets ($6) must be purchased in advance using the ticket form provided online.

At the Capitol, visits with area representatives and other key legislators conclude at 4:45 p.m. Buses will drop participants off and pick them up at the same location near the Capitol.

Participants are required to preregister by Friday, Feb. 18. Please note that there is no charge for the legislative briefing, but there is a fee for the optional box lunch and shuttle bus.
