The Texas Education Code establishes a state minimum salary schedule that must be implemented by Texas public school districts for specific public education professionals–Texas classroom teachers, full-time librarians, full-time counselors and full-time school nurses (RNs only). There is no state minimum salary for any other position. Most school districts pay more than the state minimum salary schedule; contact your district’s human resources department to view a copy of your local salary schedule. The following chart shows the state minimum for the 2007-08 school year as initially published by the Texas Education Agency (TEA).
** Total years of creditable experience as of Sept. 1 * This schedule was posted by TEA without having gone through the rulemaking process to determine if increases to teacher salaries approved in 2007 should provide a moderate increase in the salary schedule. Accordingly, this schedule could be subject to change. Funding approved in the 2007 legislative session for a pay raise averages out to around $425 annually for employees subject to the state minimum salary schedule. However, there is no requirement that the increase be an across-the-board raise and no prohibition on districts using the funding to subsidize an already-planned raise. TEA has determined that employees required to be certified by the State Board for Educator Certification are eligible for the raise. TCTA offers a free online continuing professional education seminar relating to incentive pay. Members can earn 1.25 CPE credit hours by taking “Performance pay”. Web posted: 07/31/07 |
