TCTA:  The educated choice®.

The Texas Classroom Teachers Association is a nonprofit, independent organization serving 50,000 members across Texas. Founded in 1927, TCTA has been The Educated Choice® for Texas teaching professionals for 80 years.

TCTA is nonunion and is not affiliated with any national organization, so its policies and efforts are not influenced by out-of-state interests. And 100 percent of the annual dues paid by TCTA members stays in Texas working on behalf of Texas teachers and Texas public education.

TCTA offers an array of services and benefits including:

The highest level of professional liability insurance coverage
TCTA membership includes a powerful professional liability insurance policy with up to $7 million in coverage, plus $2 million for civil rights coverage. This is the highest level of coverage available, and the policy is administered by an A+ rated carrier.

Access to nine experienced staff attorneys
TCTA members have direct access to nine experienced staff attorneys for information and assistance on employment-related legal issues at NO COST BEYOND your low membership dues. No other professional organization offers the expertise or attorney-to-member ratio that TCTA does. TCTA also maintains a $250,000 Teacher Defense Fund to hire local attorneys to assist members when circumstances warrant.

Exclusive membership
Only TCTA limits its membership to teachers, counselors, nurses, librarians and other professionals. Our legal representation, legislative advocacy and communications are all focused on educators dealing directly with students. You never have to worry about conflicts of interest.

Advocacy
Ranked the top education lobby group by Capitol Inside, TCTA employs a team of veteran lobbyists with an unmatched record of success advocating for you! Our work doesn’t stop when the legislative session ends. We also work with boards and state agencies on the implementation of new laws.

Unsurpassed value
TCTA offers the best services available to a classroom teacher in Texas for the most affordable rates. First-time members can join TCTA for only $90, and subsequent years will cost just $140 annually – that’s only $11.67 a month!

Discount programs and services
TCTA offers a variety of ways to help members save time and money.

Timely information and numerous online services
Members have access to a wide range of communications resources, including our award-winning magazine, The Classroom Teacher and our website, which offers FREE continuing professional education courses, an online “ask-a-lawyer” response center for general employment-related questions, legislative and other statewide information, and much more. In addition, TCTA’s electronic communications allow us to instantly alert you to pressing issues or the latest legislative news. All serve to keep TCTA members the most well-informed educators on campus!

The Association owns its headquarters property located in the historic “Bremond Block” of downtown Austin. This beautifully restored 1886 Victorian mansion is one of two TCTA-owned properties located in the block, both of which are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Association has restored both of these Victorian structures to their original beauty and has helped to preserve pieces of the city’s history.
