Nanette Sissney, a counselor from Whitesboro ISD and a member of the Texas Classroom Teachers Association Executive Board, has been appointed by Gov. Rick Perry to an active public school employee position on the Texas Teacher Retirement System Board of Trustees. The appointment is subject to Senate confirmation.

The governor selected Sissney from a list of three candidates garnering the most votes in a spring 2009 election. She took office immediately, joining former TCTA State President Charlotte Clifton on the TRS Board. Sissney will serve a six-year term that will expire Aug. 31, 2015.

Sissney is the chair of TCTA's Professional Rights and Responsibilities Committee and has been active in TCTA leadership positions for many years. She is also active at the local level, serving in numerous offices for the Whitesboro CTA, including president. She is a member of the Texoma Counseling Association and serves as second vice president of the Delta Kappa Gamma, Kappa Zeta Chapter.

Sissney said, "I'm very excited and honored by this appointment and am ready to get to work! I have a lot to learn and am looking forward to representing TRS members as this board makes decisions that will affect our retirement."

TCTA is enormously proud to have two TCTA members serving on this important state-level board and sends its congratulations to Sissney.
