The TCTA membership year will close on February 29th. We will no longer be accepting memberships for the 2011-2012 school year.
TCTA: Respecting Texas Teachers since 1927
Only $90 for new active members
TCTA dues are only $90 for new active members, $140 for returning members. Your teacher association shouldn't charge hundreds of dollars just because it can. TCTA is a Texas-only, non-union professional association, so you won't be sending your hard-earned money off to a national labor union.
TCTA membership includes:
Exclusivity
Membership in TCTA is open to a public school employee who is employed as a classroom teacher, counselor, librarian, diagnostician, speech pathologist, social worker, school nurse, athletic trainer, or coach.
Eligibility requires direct involvement in the instruction of students and regular employment in a Texas public school or in a state-supported institution of higher learning in Texas.
Since TCTA does not accept administrators as members, you'll never have to worry that the association advising you in a proposed reduction-in-force is also advising your administrators about how to successfully eliminate jobs!
Nine Staff Attorneys
If you need help or have an employment-related legal question, TCTA's lawyers are just a toll-free phone call away. TCTA members have access to the most experienced legal team and the best attorney-to-member ratio. TCTA also maintains a $250,000 Teacher Defense Fund to hire outside counsel when appropriate.
Professional Liability Insurance
Professional liability insurance is the first line of defense for all Texas school employees. As a TCTA member, your dues include professional liability insurance of up to $8 million, with $2 million for civil rights coverage.
FREE Continuing Education
TCTA provides FREE online CPE hours to our members. Over 40 hours of SBEC-approved continuing professional education courses are available through our website, to access at your convenience.
Top-ranked education lobby team
TCTA has the top-ranked education lobby team in Texas, and we employ an experienced lobbyist in Washington, D.C. We seek results not publicity. Much of our best work is accomplished quietly and quickly, minimizing the disruption but solving the problem.
TCTA regrets that we are unable to provide legal services for issues arising prior to the effective date of membership. Your membership and professional liability insurance coverage become effective when your completed membership application and full payment, or a signed payroll deduction authorization and required payments are received at TCTA headquarters.
