Math and science teachers in Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas have a support group that is as close as their computers.
In 1999, the Southwest Educational Development Laboratory’s Eisenhower Southwest Consortium for the Improvement of Mathematics and Science Teaching (SCIMAST) began an online mentoring project to help math and science teachers deal with classroom challenges and to provide a way for regional Presidential Award designees to share their expertise.
Visitors to the SCIMAST online mentoring project Web site may pose a question, browse through previously submitted questions and answers or sign up to receive e-mail notification of new archive submissions.
